About Me

Happy Summer! I am so excited to be joining Beacon Heights as an assistant principal! I am a native of Utah, but grew up in a small rural town in Missouri. I graduated from the University of Utah in English Education and then served as a Peace Corps Volunteer for two years in Kyrgyzstan. I then moved to New York City to get a Masters in  Teaching English as a Second Language at Teachers College, Columbia University. For twelve years, I taught ESL at a public high school for new Chinese immigrants ages 17-21. I returned to Salt Lake City to work for Granite School District as their Newcomer Academy Coordinator. For the past 8 years, I’ve been a literacy coach at Northwest Middle School and an assistant principal at Bryant Middle School and West High School. I’m venturing into an elementary school for the first time in my 24-year career in education. I look forward to working with and learning from Principal Louie and Beacon Height’s amazing faculty, staff, students, and parents.
