SCHOOL CHOICE FORM FOR MIDDLE SCHOOL MAGNET -- 6th grade students currently in a full-time Magnet classroom AND current 6th and 7th grade students who were previously eligible for full-time Magnet services but are not currently in a full-time Magnet classroom, are now eligible to enroll in one of the full-time Middle School Magnet Gifted & Talented programs, located at Clayton, Hillside or West High.  These parents have been emailed the middle school Letter of Intent/School Choice Form.  Please complete the form by March 15, 2024.     ENGLISH FORM       SPANISH FORM

WHAT WILL HAPPEN TO THE ELP MAGNET OR AAMP PROGRAMS IF A SCHOOL IS CLOSED?  -- ELP is a district program that provides services to identified students. The Magnet program is not being studied for closure; if a school(s) on the study list with a Magnet program is ultimately recommended for closure, the program will be housed in a new location.  Additionally, AAMP (our neighborhood ELP programs) will continue to provide engaging and enriching learning opportunities in all elementary schools.

PRE-K STUDENTS (who will be 5 years on or before 9/1/2024) -- Beginning with the 2024-2025 school year, Magnet Gifted and Talented classes will begin in 1st grade.  Testing for current pre-k students will take place in March of their kindergarten year for possible 1st grade placement.  For more information, click here for letter in English   click here for letter in Spanish.   Click here for power point presentation.

2024-2025 SCHOOL YEAR ASSESSMENT SCHEDULE:
•Most of our assessing happens grade wide with no sign up needed.
•Because of the shift to universal format, there are no longer opt-in windows for all grades every year.
•See 2024-2025 assessment calendar at the top of the page.

WHY THIS CHANGE HAS HAPPENED:
•Provide an ELP screening opportunity to all SLCSD students twice.
•Establish consistency and predictability in the assessment calendar.
•Balance ELP Department's time and effort between identification and services management within ELP.
