Chess Club

Are you interested in learning how to play chess? Or do you already know how to play? Are you looking for other chess players? Come join The Beacon Heights Chess Club! The BH Chess club is run by volunteer parents and chess coaches. The club will meet in the library from 3:20pm - 4:20pm on Tuesdays. Space is limited, hurry and sign up for the fun! Orientation & Sign-up Meeting
Where: School Library
Time: 1:20 p.m. Friday, Sept 11th, 2015. The club and coaches are funded by parent donations, and the majority of the donations will be used towards paying the coaches. We anticipate chess club donations being approximately at least $20 per child for the school year (9/15/15~3/15/16). Registration will close as soon as the space is filled up, registrations received after that date will be placed on a waiting list. The first meeting of Chess Club will be Tuesday, Sep15th, 2015. GIRLS ON THE RUN

One session in the spring (March-May).  Dependent on parent volunteers for coaching and student interest.  Open to girls in 3rd-6th grades, and a minimum of 10 girls is needed.  For more information go to www.girlsontherunsaltlake.org or contact the school coordinator, Tina Dinh, at tina.dinh@slcschools.org.

MAD SCIENCE

Six week program offered in the fall and again in the spring.  Fliers are sent home with student when we receive them.  Also look for flyer on the Community Bulletin Board in the rotunda.  This program has limited space and fills up quickly.

ODYSSEY OF THE MIND

A year-long creative problem solving program.  Open to students in 1st-6th grades.  Each team needs a minimum of 6 students and 1 parent coach.  For more info go to utahodyssey.org or contact the school coordinator, Judi Marcy, at judi.marcy@slcschools.org

Ski/Snowboard Lessons

Run by Salt Lake County Recreation (Northwest Recreation Center).  Have your kids learn to Ski or Snowboard! (OR improve your current skills)  Participants are picked up from school on Fridays and travel up to Snowbird Mountain, where they receive six lessons from Snowbird Mountain Ski School Instructors. This is a great opportunity for children to learn to ski or snowboard and have fun with friends.  Program runs February through March.  For more info go to www.recreation.slco.org/northwest
